Abstract
The main cause of deforestation is human activities that are not environmentally friendly and more concerned with their living needs. The activities in question are overexploitation, illegal logging and forest invasion, regardless of the lives of others. For this reason, integrated environmental protection and management is needed based on local wisdom. Such efforts can be made by incorporating noble values inherent in the local culture. Integrating ecological values with local wisdom helps create human awareness of environmental management. This study aims to describe the life of the community around the village of Panyangga Alas Purwo National Park, precisely Kutorejo Hamlet, Kalipait Village with local wisdom in the form of rules or taboos. In the form of a series of traditions that apply for generations. A myth that prevails for generations. The wisdom of this region has the value of ecological intelligence related to the relationship with ecosystems. Local wisdom, in the form of myths and taboos adopted by the community, is used as a guide in the management of forest areas. It also introduces important concepts by incorporating local wisdom, as an effort to protect nature.
